Artist Statement
Susan Lenz is a full time, professional studio artist in Central, South Carolina. Her studio is located in the recently renovated, former Cateechee mill village church at 320 North Church Street, Central, SC. Her studio is literally sanctuary-sized. She stitches both by hand and machine but also indulges a passion for book arts and unique, 3D found art objects. Altering found photos is an obsession.
Susan's work has appeared in national publications, numerous juried exhibitions, and at fine craft shows including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Smithsonian Craft Shows. She has been featured on art quilting television programs. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Textile Museum and the Department of Interior Museum, both in Washington, DC and the McKissick Museum in South Carolina. Susan is represented by the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville, NC; Spiralis Gallery in Easton, MD; and Chaos Contemporary in Columbus, OH.
