Black and White and Read All Over
When contacted by a photo editor at The New York Times for a simple DIY weaving project using actual pages of the newspaper, I didn't want to admit my inappropriateness for her needs without also including images of what I could do with two copies. The fiber vessel was created from one-inch strips of the newspaper fed through my machine's cording foot and zigzag stitched. The ball of cording that resulted was stitched into the 3D vessel form and filled with layered and stitched cubes made from the remaining pages. Though not right for her upcoming article, the editor was impressed.
