Stephanie Shore

I am a former academic scientist now turned art quilter. My quilts have been juried into several international art quilt exhibits, including Quilt National, Quilt Visions, Art Quilt Elements, and Quilts = Art = Quilts. Many of my quilts feature small fragments or strips of fabric fused and then stitched to a painted or appliqued base. The interaction between the fused elements and the fabrics underneath creates additional patterns and heightens the sense of movement the quilts evoke. Most of my quilts are abstract in nature and feature strong colors and value gradations. To create the tints, shades, and values needed to achieve these gradations, I paint my fabrics. To reduce the environmental impact of my art practice, I paint on recycled fabrics that I purchase from thrift stores. For examples of my work, see Instagram @stephanieshoreart.
