Artist Statement
Kathy York makes art quilts to give her life experiences a voice. Her work is defined by color and pattern often created with batik. Common themes that recur include group dynamics, universal emotions, and current events. Her imagery is associative, often making allusions to personal and shared cultural experiences.

York has exhibited in museums, art centers, and quilt shows across the United States, including being selected as a finalist at the highly coveted Quilt National. Her work has been in numerous juried invitational exhibits including Dinner@Eight Artists and SAQA. Her work has been commissioned for a children's hospital in Fort Worth, TX, and is held in numerous private collections. In addition to art quilts, Kathy also makes modern quilts and won Best in Show at QuiltCon 2015.
