Ellen Deschatres

I have been working with art quilts since the mid-1980’s, long before I knew what they were called. My goal then was to try to expand the boundaries of fabric sculpture. I wanted to create something that ‘reached out’ to the view by working in three-dimensional quilts, by manipulating fabric so that it ‘spoke’ to me in new ways.

I’m looking forward to a new chapter with my art and to continue to create art that touches others; that communicates as best I can with the viewer-participant and am very excited about where the future of art quilts will take me!
