Ruins 8 is part of an abstract series that explores what happens to buildings and industrial structures when we stop using them. This piece references the brick-built glass making kilns that were once so common in St Helens, Lancashire. As modern manufacturing methods were introduced, the brick kilns were abandoned. Some kilns were dismantled as their bricks were scavenged and reused. Other were left to crumble, to be overgrown. Their iconic sensuous curves lost.
