This piece is a meditation to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. Over 500 burned and numbered holes represent the victims, with Xs standing for the 58 people who died. The stitching represents the chaotic paths of the crowd, and the red fabric showing through the holes is the blood.
It took me longer to do the burning, stitching, and numbering than it took the shooter to mow down the concertgoers. We Americans have allowed our citizens to own this power to kill. I still cannot comprehend the motive, the means, or the pain.
