Call for Entry Deadline

What is your legacy? There are many different ways we can leave a legacy for future generations, and each of us will have a different perspective on what our potential legacy might be. We often think of a legacy as something that was left to us or that came to us as a birthright. This exhibit asks you to consider legacy in terms of your personal future. Will you leave a deep connection to family, mentor and improve the lives of others, contribute to a cause you feel passionate about, advance social justice initiatives, or leave tangible evidence of your existence in this world?

Artwork must meet SAQA’s definition of an art quilt, and there are no other restrictions on the type of eligible work. There is no entry fee for this call.

Selection Process:

The Volunteer Curator will jury the submissions based on quality of submitted image and illustration of the exhibition theme.

Because of tight deadlines, it is critical that submitted images are of professional quality, ready to be shown in a virtual gallery; artists will not be contacted for revised images. Images that do not meet SAQA’s digital image guidelines will not be forwarded to the Volunteer Curator for possible selection.

Common errors include:

  • Images that are out of focus or too small
  • Cropping images too closely on the full-view image. All edges of the artwork must be visible along with a small amount of background
  • Not using a plain, neutral background for your image - please keep distracting elements to a minimum

NOTE: Artists are no longer asked to blur signatures, initials, or other identifying marks on their submissions to Virtual Gallery calls for entry. Any blurring will be done by SAQA staff prior to the jurying process.
