Eco/Botanical Printing with Jane Dunnewold

SAQA Seminar (Video Presentation)

SAQA Seminar 2022: Unit 2 featured a great presentation by Jane Dunnewold. Scroll down to view the recording.

Jane’s approach to botanical printing combines surface design techniques – including fiber reactive dyes, and gold leaf – to introduce color and pattern that can’t be achieved any other way. The results are beautiful and distinctive, and the process is definitely addictive. She describes it as the best of both worlds – a combination of traditional eco-printing and the surface design processes she has perfected over 25 years.  In 2019 she pioneered the use of a heat press to facilitate the process. In this brief lecture, Jane gives an overview of the basic process and then talks about the use of the press.
