Artist Statement
My art is very personal; it’s an artistic journey into my soul and mind, trying to make sense of emotions and feelings from my early years. By making hidden and or forgotten memories visual, I can communicate with my soul in a grown-up manner, a continuing conversation.
I work in series, print and dye my fabrics myself; my preferred technique is raw-edge fused appliqué and machine-quilted. My latest obsession is rust printing with found rusty objects; the rust in my work represents inherited traumas passed down from generation to generation. Something “toxic” transformed into something beautiful.
