Teresita Leal

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I continue to live and work. Although I hold degrees in Biochemistry and Physiology, I have been a textile artist for the past 20 years. My practice has been shaped by self-directed study, workshops with outstanding teachers, and international festivals. I have taught workshops at home and abroad, and exhibited my work in museums, salons, and art fairs across Europe and the Americas. I am currently a member of two international textile groups, 20 Perspectives and Viewpoints, and my work is represented by Juana de Arte gallery in Buenos Aires. I work primarily with raw-edge appliqué, adapting the technique to allow freedom -each fabric piece added by impulse or reflection. Over time, I’ve become a colorist, using color and value as my main language, drawing spaces, forms, and emotional resonance through layered textiles.
