Artist Statement
Sue Sherman is a Canadian fibre artist specializing in realistic wildlife with a message. Passionate about protecting earth’s creatures and their habitats, she aims to give the animal kingdom a voice by transforming white cotton into lifelike creatures through many hours of precise painting with dyes and thread.

Along with the message, Sue aims to add an element of humour to engage the viewer and start conversations. Her work often depicts animals in unlikely or impossible situations in order to reveal concerns about climate change and habitat loss and their impact on the earth’s biodiversity. Her original artwork is inspired by her own wildlife photographs taken around the world.

Sue is an exhibiting member of the new artist group "Soul Stories", led by Luana Rubin and An Marshall.
