I live in a small town of 5,000 people in northern California. When the twice-weekly newspaper comes out, we read all the events, happenings, and juicy tidbits. The Police Log is filled with small misdemeanor crimes but also unusual events. Our main desire as citizens is to not end up in the Police Log. We’re so preoccupied, that if space ships were
landing, we wouldn’t notice.
