Magical Unicorn

“Magical Unicorn,” is a portrait of a severely autistic girl. Autism or ASD is a disorder mostly comprised of males, she is an enigma. Basquiat influenced the style of this quilt. Basquiat’s artwork was shaped by science, from a Grey’s Anatomy book. Biologically ASD children are physically/hormonally changing but lack language. They are infants in aging bodies that still love Dora, and rainbows. While their innocence remains, it is a beautiful and heartbreaking journey to witness.
