This piece is inspired by my daughter. Once, when we were about to go out, I was fussing about finding a baseball cap that would work with my Afro hair. After many failed attempts my daughter pokes her head into my room and says to me matter-of-factly: “Mom, hats don’t fit our hair”.

The piece is about the subtle ways in which society expects women to conform to certain molds by providing only certain services and products which are tailored for specific body shapes, and supposedly "fashionable" feminine styles. Standard baseball caps don't fit Afro hair types.
