Hot summer date nights across the country, often meant catching the latest movie at the local drive with your sweetie. My piece captures one of the most popular movies of 1942, Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. For over 75 years Americans of all ages have enjoyed the joys of escaping daily realities watching their favorite movies from the privacy of their own cars.
Materials
Canvas, water soluble media, cotton threads, cotton batting
Techniques
My imagined scene was rendered on whole canvas cloth with graphite pencils, water soluble pencil, dye crayons, appliqu, and buttons. I embellished the designs with machine stitching and quilting.
