Cape Cod Fruit Bowl
This quilt is based on a photograph of the kitchen window in a house overlooking Cape Cod Bay, where we often spent summer vacations with extended family. It conveys the atmosphere of my favorite spot in that turn- of-the-century house; the dark wooden walls, the sharing of food and drink, the cool ocean breezes blowing through the curtains, and the wonderful clear light. In this small space, each family member contributed their knowledge and skills to create memorable and delicious meals, using whatever we found at the local farmer’s market. All the food and our interactions were filled with warmth and love. These are treasured memories.
