Brooke Atherton - Covid Calendar
Every day we were asked to shelter at home during the covid-19 epidemic, I added another 12" section to a strip of fabric. After 32 days, I stopped, because I was busy with other projects. I plan to begin again, if necessary. This will be shown at Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, MT from Oct. 15, 2020-Jan. 10, 2021. The curators there have never had to hang a 32 foot-long textile piece before, and are showing their own artistic sides with their suggestions. I had to photograph this in my backyard because rattlesnakes have been reported in the geologically interesting section of our park where I planned to shoot. Poisonous snakes. Virus. What a year.
Found and recycled textiles, paper, hand and machine stitching. Found objects.
