AI, Tell Me My Fortune

AI is changing the way many artists work and the way artworks are perceived and valued. Is AI a partner or an adversary? Like it or not, AI is part of our future, but what will that future look like? Inspired by the traditional paper fortune tellers I loved making as a child, I hope this whimsical piece can encourage conversations about the relationships between artists, audiences, and AI. Text generators responded to my prompt to "tell me my fortune." The responses became the secret "fortunes" stitched under the folded flaps. To encourage audience engagement, regular-sized replicas of the giant fortune teller are included with the piece for visitors to discover their own "fortunes."
