Draco—Latin for dragon—is one of the 48 Ptolemaic constellations described in the 2nd century. It can be seen year-round from northern latitudes. Despite its size, it’s not particularly prominent in the night sky. It does, however, encompass an amazing array of celestial objects, including many double stars, deep sky objects like the Cat’s Eye Nebula, Messier Object 102 (Spindle Galaxy), and several stars with exoplanets. This piece is my fanciful representation of the constellation and some of its denizens.
