Artists interested in a new lens for studying color and composition will discuss the work of architect Christopher Alexander, Emeritus Professor at the University of California. The group will focus on the 15 fundamental properties that define beauty and grace from Alexander’s perspective. Some properties will be familiar - overlapping the Elements and Principles of Design - such as repetition and contrast. Others will be new such as simplicity/inner calm and roughness.
Group participants will have the option of meeting on the second Monday of the month at 8PM EDT (GMT/UTC -4) or the second Tuesday of the month at 10AM EDT (GMT/UTC -4) to facilitate members in different time zones. Seventeen meetings are planned starting on June 7, 2021 and ending October 3, 2022.
