Your SAQA Exhibition Committee is forging the way into some new territory for the art quilt: a brand new exhibition where viewers are allowed to touch the art! Imagine how wonderful it will be for our viewers, old and young alike, to interact with the art more completely than they are usually allowed to!

Although some may find it a little scary to embrace this theme, we could also see it as a fun way to grow and expand in our artistic journey.

Join our panelists Deb Cashatt, Annina Collier, and Laura Fogg, and moderator Kestrel Michaud as they explore some of the exciting ways we can think about this opportunity. Who knows, you may get an idea that will lead to a quilt that will become part of this groundbreaking exhibition!

This webinar will be on October 30 at 2pm EDT (GMT/UTC-4, New York Time). It will be recorded.

About the Panelists

Deb Cashatt

Deb is a full-time artist in northern California’s gold country who blends traditional quilting with digital design, and who has a history of successfully addressing her creative talents to meet SAQA challenges. A former half of the Pixeladies duo, her work has traveled as widely as she has.

Annina Collier

Annina is the Dean of the Center for Creativity in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she curates  the “Please Touch the Art” exhibition and related programming. The exhibition engages all five senses, with a special focus on artists and visitors who are blind or visually impaired.

Laura Fogg

Laura has been art quilting for almost 30 years, and continues to experiment with new techniques and materials to find her voice. Storytelling is now prominent in her motivation to keep producing art.  We thought of Laura for this panel because of her recent desire to have audiences touch one of her works in a SAQA Global Exhibition.
