Celebrating its 20th year, Quilts for Kids is a non-profit organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal, providing work for economically challenged women and educating at-risk children in South Asia. Founder and Director James Hopkins and Manager Ravina Kaur will talk about how the organization got started, how it raises funds for children's education, and about the quiltmakers themselves. They will also touch on how the women design and create their quilts and how the quilts and the organization have evolved over the past two decades.
Textile Talks features weekly presentations and panel discussions from the International Quilt Museum, Quilt Alliance, Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), and Surface Design Association. The programs are held online at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific) each Wednesday.
