Plant Based (SAQA Regional) - Call for Entry

THEME/CONCEPT

How can we bring plants into our art quilts? Motives, perhaps, or means of creating fabrics through eco-dying—the exhibition offers space to explore the integration of plant(life) into art quilts.  Motives can encompass trees, fruit, vegetables, or flowers; leaves, seeds, and grasses; habitats or single specimens; on land or in water. Plants can also be used for the creation of other motives, just as the Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo did with his portraits made out of fruits and vegetables. Artwork may refer to plants also solely through its materiality: ecodyed cloth, abstract work, or multimedia work incorporating plants. We encourage submission of a wide range of work, from traditional to experimental!
