The Nature of Textiles is a collection of artworks inspired by the natural world. These include pieces created at different times, translating landscapes and vegetation into abstract compositions. The inherent beauty of textiles is as important in these pieces as the subject matter. Colors, patterns, and textures—the very nature of fabrics—play an important role in each and every piece. In addition to being a source of inspiration, nature also serves as a way to explore more pressing environmental, social, or emotional concerns.
This exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the intricate balance between contradictions: beauty and ugliness, joy and sorrow, strength and fragility, awe and alarm, detachment and connectedness, to name some. It highlights the delicate interactions between us humans and the environment we live in.
