If you‘re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased.  - Maya Angelou

Surface Design Journal invites artists to create an original fiber-based work that leaves a lasting impression. How will you use the unique medium of textiles to create an artwork that resonates for years to come? What do you hope to capture about our present for future generations? Will you share your story through the application of color or pattern, a fiber technique historic materials, an emotion evoked by your design—these are just a few things that come to mind.

Each year, SDA’s International Exhibition In Print showcases the breadth and depth of contemporary artists and designers working with fiber and textile-based materials, methods, and techniques. The work of selected artists will be featured in the Fall 2023 issue of Surface Design Journal. The Journal is read by artists, gallery owners, curators, scholars, and enthusiasts nationally and internationally.

Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply.
