Interwoven Conversations features artists – Liz Hewitt & Gwynne Penny - exploring connections with the natural world through textiles, painting, sculpture & printmaking. A sense of place is central to their practice along with a shared interest of using found objects, exploring processes and mapping.
Liz Hewitt is a fibre artist whose installations and textile pieces function as alternative maps: layered, incomplete, and often fragile. They question how we understand place when its history is fragmented, and how the remnants of industry continue to shape the landscape and its ecological memory.
Through the language of cloth and textile memory, Liz creates sensitive spaces where fragility becomes strength, silence becomes voice, and forgotten histories are made visible.
Gwynne Penny is a multi-disciplinary visual artist whose work is drawn to the rhythms and textures of coastal intertidal zones, she seeks to deepen our connection to the natural world.
