2-3pm EDT (GMT/UTC -4)

Kristin Barrus is an Academic Quiltmaker who examines the anthropology of quilts. Using the academic field of fan studies, she investigates the ways quiltmakers today embrace fan identities through their making and purchasing, as well as their organic membership in digital and in-person communities. Kristin shares the brief history of fan studies and why it matters, fandom in the quilt world today, and examples of fannish performance at events such as QuiltCon and in the commerce of women in quilt businesses.
