Textile Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a national center for fiber art. Its A Common Thread exhibition has been a beloved tradition for 25 years, highlighting the remarkable creativity of Textile Center’s member artists. Join Textile Center team members Karl Reichert and Mia Finnamore for this special Textile Talk to learn about the history of the exhibition and hear from six participating artists about their work in the show. Together, they will explore several themes that have emerged in this year’s showcase, including ICE in Minnesota, the climate crisis, and reuse.
A Common Thread includes more than 130 works throughout Textile Center’s galleries. As the largest unjuried fiber art exhibition in the nation, it is rich in diversity and expansive in scope and perspective.
We'll hear from artists Chiaki O'Brien, Nancy Birger, Dawn Tomlinson, Diane Muse, Sam Powell, and Carolyn Halliday.
Textile Talks features weekly presentations and panel discussions from the International Quilt Museum, Quilt Alliance, Studio Art Quilt Associates, and Surface Design Association. The programs are held online at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific) each Wednesday.
