Both, And

Both, And, an exhibition of quilts by Heather Akerberg will be on display March 6 - June 14, 2026 at the Sioux City Art Center in Sioux City, IA.

The exhibition will feature quilts from the past few years, including several works from the Dialectic series. Quilts in the series consider the possibility for two contradictory ideas to both be true. Life is complex, and this series of work offers an opportunity to contemplate that complexity instead of yielding to the urge to oversimplify or take sides.

The keystone work of the series, Dialectic No. 1 (Joyous/Mourning) was featured at Quilt National 2025, awarded the Nancy Crow Award for Outstanding Machine Pieced Quilt. Dialectic No. 1 is currently touring as part of the 2025 Quilt National Tour. Two of works that will be on display have previously been juried into and exhibited at QuiltCon 2025 in Phoenix, AZ and exhibited at 2025 Bemis Contemporary Art Auction Benefit in Omaha, NE.

Several of the works will be available for purchase, and a price sheet is available at the art center upon request.
