50: A Return to Cloth

Through strip piecing, repetition and dense stitching, Norma Beggs creates contemporary textile works that explore rhythm, structure and emotional response through abstraction. Working intuitively with colour and geometric form, the work balances precision with improvisation, allowing stitch, surface and repeated fabric strips to build slow visual movement across the textile surface. While earlier works embrace bold colour relationships and constructed form, more recent pieces draw on the shifting light and atmosphere of the Causeway Coast. The resulting works sit between quilt, painting and constructed cloth.
