Artist Statement
My work begins with close attention: a folded leaf, a seedpod, or the slow transformation of a fallen log. Through nature journaling, photography, and research, I follow these encounters to questions about our place in the world and nature's beauty and precarity. I use stitched paper, poetry, and artist book structures to invite viewers to explore these questions for themselves. I am interested in how fragments of the natural world, memory, and language can create or explore meaning. My work asks what becomes possible when we spend time in a place and allow those interactions to shape our worldview.

I hold a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.F.A. in Poetry. I studied hand bookbinding, but I'm self-taught in sewing, using quilting and embroidery techniques in my work while constantly inventing new ways to combine paper, fabric, and stitching in my studio.
