Urban Sanctuary was created to stimulate thought about the global homeless and refugee crisis and the need for safe havens for all mankind. This piece took on even greater meaning while everyone was required to lock down to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus. People sheltered in the sanctuary of their homes to fight the pandemic together.

While in Vienna, I was fortunate to visit the Hundertwasser Museum and was inspired by the unique apartments that were influenced by his art. As the sun casts undulating rays upon this apartment building, courage and strength push away chaos, replacing it with a light-filled dance of joy. “My home—it is my retreat and resting place from wars. I try to keep this corner as a haven against the tempest outside, as I do another corner in my soul.” Michel de Montaigne
