Timing is Everything
Sea turtles tend to hatch out when it’s dark so they can run for their lives to the surf without being attacked by daytime predators. The full moon and high tides aren’t necessary, but they sure help! The turtles head for the bright light that the moon casts on the waters. Though they will face more predators once they reach the water, their chances improve considerably the deeper they get into the ocean.
