Structure can mean many things. In this piece there are many layers of structure. The improvisational piecing of each block is structure. Assembling into the whole piece is another structure. The arrangement of the blocks form an irregular structure. The layers of the top, batting, and backing form a structure for stability. Lastly, the quilting adds to the overall structure.

This piece was inspired by a photo I took in Argentina of colored buildings, abstracted.
Original photo. Cotton fabric for block construction, wool batting, cotton thread for quilting.
