The concrete brutalist architecture of London's Southbank Centre is interpreted in 12 small quilts designed to be displayed as one. My textiles reflect the lines, shapes, textures and state of wear of the buildings - the discolouration, water marks, crumbling concrete and weeds sprouting up in cracks. The pieces focus on the abstract lines of the structures while conveying mass, space and light.
Photographs printed on organza, mono printed fabrics collaged with raw edge appliqué, colours heightened and texture depicted with Markal Paintstiks, rusty metal nuts used as spacers.
