Rhythm & Blues 3

These pieces use the sewing machine to create flat fields of thread color, which I hand sew into actual 3-D constructions—in this case, creating boxes of various heights and composing with these actual objects. Rhythm & Blues 1-3 explores the images and attitudes of Josef Albers color theory, using lines rather than his famous Homage to the Square. The 3-D reflects my years as a metal sculptor, the dichotomy of hard and soft that working with fabric sculpture allows has been fun to explore.
