Petals and Pollen

This piece was inspired by a photograph of a Gloxinia flower covered with pollen grains. I loved the glowing reds as well as the textures of the pollen and fine black hair on the petals. I simplified the design to merely suggest the secrets that the flower was revealing and was surprised that it ended up suggesting the shape of an African skirt, revealing my sense of place.
