Mothers & Daughters

My quilt uses vintage linens, laces, and trims in a traditional split rail fence block that is overlaid with hand dyed silk organza pattern pieces to represent the tradition of making a baby’s Christening gown from her mothers’ wedding dress. The mother and daughter pairs in my family from my great, great grandmother down to my granddaughter are named in machine handwriting that deliberately leaves the ending threads loose and unburied. It is quilted with white, cream, and gold colored threads.
