I used my lathe to turn egg shapes out of wood, making examples of five Minnesota bird eggs. Hummingbird eggs are small, about ½ inch long. The largest example comes from a loon, 3½ inches. Other chosen examples are blue robin eggs, 1 inch long; barn owl eggs, 1¼ inches; and wild turkey eggs, 1½ inches.
