“In the digital age, don’t forget to use your digits. I believe that people would do well to learn the magic of making things by hand and how the hand talks to the brain as much as the brain talks to the hand. This is what the makers and users of artificial intelligence miss.” - Lynda Barry. After printing my reflected sunlight photos onto paper and then carefully hand-placing them into a mandala, I photographed that image, then printed it onto various fabrics to achieve my imagined moment (out of MY brain) when Light exploded out of nothing and radiated outward to fill the Dark. Recently I asked AI to create a better image; it was a total failure. My eye, my brain, and my hands won this round.
