My piece captures the frozen beauty of the glacial crevasses of Aotearoa (New Zealand), using the rich, deep blues created with cyanotype. The fabric is colored by combining the cyanotype process with hand dyeing methods. The couched stitching lines mimic the rough, jagged edges of the crevasses. As glaciers continue to melt and silently fade from view, let Glacial Blues inspire us to continue our efforts to protect these and other natural wonders before they disappear.
