Gaze

Gaze is a photograph of my daughter, Jana, that she took with her cell phone. A selfie is a new phenomenon, used widely enough to be added to the Oxford English Dictionary and to be chosen as the Word of the Year in 2013. My daughter has fully engaged with this art form.

She is both photogenic and dramatic. The selfie has provided her generation with a public mirror, through the lens of social media, into which millions of people gaze.
