Spanish Catholic Mission San Xavier del Bac, Tucson, AZ, completed in 1797, has been undergoing restoration efforts. The stark white of the newly plastered towers against the weather worn dust brown main facade provided inspiration. Questions of time, erosion, history and loss were evoked but not answered. Religion and symbolism forced their way through.
