In 'Colorado Birches CA', second-order cellular automata and a photograph of bark are juxtaposed. The abstract mathematical form and biomorphic form share structural similarities which are emphasized with quilted metallic lines. The composited imagery is rendered to digital textile prints, and is further enhanced with freehand quilting.
