Plastic pollution is destroying our oceans. Micro and nano plastics are in the water everywhere on the planet and are ingested by both marine life and humans. Nobody knows yet what the long-term effects of this will be, but it probably won't be good. I made this quilt entirely out of recycled plastic bags from my own garbage to point out the problem and suggest a solution: we need to wean ourselves from single-use plastic. If we all reused each plastic bag once, only half as much plastic would end up in our oceans. If we can wean ourselves from purchasing water in plastic bottles that would be even better.
