Bird Point is located in Turnagain Arm near Anchorage, Alaska. The great earthquake of 1964 lowered this costal land by several feet. Salt water encroached into the soil and gradually killed many of the lowest lying trees but at the same time helped preserve the wood. After almost sixty years, they still stand as a reminder of both the forces and persistence of nature.
