Alike But Not the Same III
Alike But Not the Same III is one of a series where I combine two abstract images into one piece. Each side of the quilt compliments the other in color and technique but the two are not the same in design. The base fabric and pieces of archival tissue were first painted separately with transparent watercolor. Then I added a near-white center section and played with the collage pieces until I found a design that said, "this is it." After refining the design, I fused the collage, added more paint where needed and quilted. Working in my studio painting and quilting is an almost daily part of my life.
