Alaska Midwinter II

Blue with cold. Alaska in winter is a perfect illustration of the concept. I often visited my mother in Alaska during winter. Bundled up so only my eyes were visible, fighting the cold, I would try to get in a bit of a walk. I captured the source photo for this quilt on one such walk. The silver threads outlining the bare trees represent frost rimmed along the branches, while the sinuous lavender lines in the sky represent the aurora borealis.
