Juried Artist Member panelists Sue Bleiweiss, Lorie McCown, and Judy Kirpich discussed their experiences working in a series while using their art to support their points of view.
Working in a series is a way to create a related, recognizable, cohesive body of work. We are coached to work in this way and told that by building a series you are creating an organized body of work that clarifies what audiences are looking at. It is a way of exploring specific ideas in progressively deeper ways. You can enrich your work and "focus in" rather than giving each subject a fleeting glance. Perhaps it might also become repetitive or even boring to stick to a particular composition or category.
